Does MegaPixel or CMOS type affect low-light?

I’m looking at camcorder specs and can’t find the difference online. So, Which is the best for low-light?

1/2.6″ 8.59MP CMOS sensor 58mm – (least expensive)
2.96MP 1/2.7″ Full HD CMOS 43mm
2.37MP 1/3 CMOS 43mm
1/2.6″ 8.59MP Full HD CMOS 58mm
2.37MP 1/3″ 58mm – (Most expensive)

all these (Canon) camcorders can shoot 1080HD. So are they all full HD?

Does MP have anything to do with video quality, or just still image quality?

So in the end, sensor SIZE plus lens filter diameter size makes the biggest difference regardless of its the Sensor type, is like Canon’s bigger 1/2.6″ CMOS or HD CMOS, does better in low-light than the smaller Sony’s Exmor R 1/2.88″ CMOS or Sony’s 1/2.9″ Clearvid CMOS? inspite of Sony’s NightShot feature as well? right?

I know lots of these terms are tossed around to confuse and sell to amateur consumers like me.

Pixel count has no bearing on video quality and very little on still image quality – it’s mostly marketing BS.

Sensor size matters, lens size matters, filter diameter depends on lens size but has no direct effect on the image quality. CMOS is noisier than CCD, and the signal to noise ratio for all sensors is worst in low light conditions. If you’re planning to do a lot of shooting in low light conditions you may need to go for the extra cost of CCD.

1080P = Full HD. Again, beware of marketing BS – good SD is better than poor HD.
